NDSU Football is a big part of the culture in North Dakota, and most college football fans beyond recognize and respect the successful program built here. Being their go-to guy for anything design related was a big step in my career. My goal was for our creative to be on par with Power 5 teams, keeping standards high and showing that despite the school size, we run with the best of them.
Villain Countdown
For preseason content leading up to kickoff, we decided to embrace the villain role that NDSU Football takes on. When your dominance spans over a decade with no signs of slowing, it's easy to be seen as the "bad guy" of the FCS. The countdown to Game Day featured players as famous villains in pop culture, with many of these graphics inspired by official movie posters.
Game Posters
Designed (literally) to build mid-week hype for the upcoming game. Each poster followed a theme for the matchup itself, the opponent or anything else timely and related. This was one of my favorite campaigns, with positive reception among fans and followers.
Game Day | Regular Season
As defending national champions, I wanted branding for NDSU Football revolved around our brighter school colors, representing the championship glamour. Our regular season Game Day graphics were my first crack at this style, featuring mainly gold coloring and hues.
Game Day | Postseason
For the FCS playoffs, I took my established branding even further, bringing out brighter colors and adding more green to the mix. The result was a look that stuck for the rest of the season's deliverables.
In-Game Graphics | Postseason
With NDSU in a growing spotlight as we advanced in the playoffs, it was important to have everything looking polished, engaging and connected, including our in-game updates.
Our score updates helped keep fans tuned in on social media, even featuring images shot during the game.
Motion graphics helped bring exciting plays to life on fans' timelines. I designed and animated our collection in advance, making these types of posts as simple as a drag-and-drop when big things happened on the field.
Awards & Honors
Many of our athletes took home honors, including several having spots on the numerous FCS All-American lists. We had some great players with great seasons, and plenty of media outlets took notice. I think I'll be able to correctly spell Luepke, Waege and Mauch for the rest of my life.
Bowl Games | Postseason
Similar to the game posters, the approach I took here was less strict to branding and more about simply making something that looks really cool. That is what it all boils down to anyway, right?
Recruiting
These interchangeable templates were prepared for the recruiting department to personalize and send to prospects around the country. Recruiting graphics were a big part of my early design career, and it was nice to revisit this type of work at NDSU as well.
National Signing Day 2023
With recruiting also comes everyone's favorite day, National Signing Day. While much of the recruiting for the 2023 class happened before my time here, I was able to pick up where it left off, even staying on course with the #Building23 theme.
Miscellaneous
Various graphics for accomplishments, promotion or anything else about NDSU Football from throughout the season.
